Open Mindedness

You wouldn’t know how open minded you are until you suddenly knock into your boundary wall. I thought I was pretty open-minded until somebody actually confesses to sleeping with another girl while still being married. That really shuts me off and I was steaming inside. It doesn’t matter that the wife knows, or that the relationship was consensual. No it didn’t matter.

I was also surprised by how I reacted when a fingerless lady greeted me at the toll. I jumped a little bit. Worst part is, she noticed. After that day, I never lined up at the same toll booth again.

Sure you tell people, I’m an open book. You can drink, you can go party for three days, you could have multiple girlfriends but I’m not fazed. But when it comes to certain things, I find that I react very negatively. So what is open-mindedness really? Where exactly do you draw the line? Some people might think it’s OK to kill animals, or to stay with the helper while still married like Warren Buffet or maybe to practice polygamy. For the record, I’m not against polygamy but under certain circumstances only. I don’t buy the ‘one-wife-not-enough’ saying. To those, I’d say, go to hell.

I really got confused that night I found out about the affair. Maybe I’m not so open-minded as I thought. But then again, what can be called open-minded?

If open-mindedness is accepting fornication then to hell with open-mindedness.

I would define being 'open-minded' as accepting that your opinions and views aren't the only ones that exist, that others have a right to their own views just as you do, not necessarily giving up your own opinions or agreeing with others.

izzati: Nope. I dunno if there's anyone who does. It's kinda sad..

jnana & geekzoid: I totally agree.. Open mindedness is also about respecting that other people might have different views but that something immoral will always be immoral. I guess we can view them as two different things.

my mira: Hye! thanks for stopping by!
