Ramadhan and Working

HIIII! This place is starting to grow cobwebs again. My bad. I never intended to abandon this particular creative outlet but you know, I had to chase little mischievous kittens all week long. You can guess how that feels like at the end of the day. Ok just kidding. I was working. Yep.

I obviously haven’t gotten used to using excess energy after the almost-two-months holiday. And I’m sleeping early like I used to again. About time too, because the eyebags were getting scary.

How’s ramadhan going for you guys? It’s second nature to me by now. The tummy doesn’t hold rock concerts in the afternoon anymore like it did in the beginnning. I don’t feel like buying the whole bazaar ramadhan anymore either. So that’s good.

weird

That’s why I lost weight. Shucks. I tried gaining weight like crazy the past few months. That’s 2 kgs lost. It’s just ridiculous. Preposterous. Bonkers. Don’t be mad at me for saying this, but I envy people who can gain weight and make it stay!

I took weight gain for a while, but that was when I did a lot of swimming. Exercising actually helps me maintain weight. *So go exercise!!!!* Ramadhan is a no-exercise zone for me unfortunately.

You know how people always say to people gaining weight: “Makin sihat nampak”. There’s always a smile on their faces. Try saying the opposite: “You look so thin”. The person saying it gives out a concerned, sympathetic look that makes me feel like the underfed child from Africa.

So then I used to blame stress of studying. Now perhaps I could say, you know, work stress! Wee.

Happy weekend muchacha & muchachos!

Badabing

Hi! Good morning, good afternoon, good night, whatever. I’m feeling very hyper and anxious because tomorrow is my first day at real work. It’s not engineering related work (surprise surprise) but I’m really excited/scared/pumped-up about the whole thing. We’ll see how it goes. I haven’t announced this job officially to any extended family members yet. If you knew me, my extended family—my cousins especially are like the sisters I never had, so I usually MUST tell them about EVERYTHING. EVERY SINGLE THING. But I haven’t about this.

Well, this job is important for me. It doesn’t matter how long I’m staying there, it’s just going to be a new experience. It’s scary. I don’t know how the hell I got the job. I don’t have any financial/marketing background! God I’m so scared that I mess up. Whatever. I’m so excited.

The office is in KL. It’s a small company but the things that I would learn there is just.. priceless. I’m not going to say much about it but my boss would be British and it’s a new environment so I have to learn about stuff really fast.

This isn’t the last of my job hunting because I’m far for settling. I take it as a part of the journey. To those looking for jobs, don’t settle just because you think it’s your only option. That’s not true. There are ALOT of opportunities out there. The most important thing is to not stop looking for it because they won’t come rolling to you.

First we studied together, now we look for jobs together. Dear friends out there, I’m rooting for you.

And oh have faith. Ramadhan brings alot of blessings to those who seek for it. Take care. Peace and love. <3

Little Sister, Meet Your Big Brother

pic

I finally, finally bought an slr camera after years looking for the perfect one. Thanks to you photography geeks out there, the price of a Nikon D90 is now affordable enough for me! ;)

I know what you’re thinking. Oh so I had to go and show the ugliest and shakiest picture (above) I’ve ever taken to show how bad compact cameras are. That’s not it. The lighting was poor, it’s 12.40am and my hands can’t stop shaking. I posted this anyway because I can’t wait to show everyone that I have a new slr camera just like the rest of the world.

So what does this mean? I’m not going to morph into a ninja photographer (taking the slr like a body extension to the mall, mosque, toilet and other inappropriate places.) Nor will I start doing photoshoots on the Broga hill (heard that’s the ‘in’ place for photographers. You ain’t one until you climb Broga.) Not to disrespect anyone, but merely just poking fun.

It just means that…

at night

…I can take crystal clear photos at night…

hammie

…and photos of lightning fast creatures…

hufvuu

…and photos of impatient brothers…

resiced

… and depth of field baby!!!!!!!!!!!! Woooooooooo yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Thank God It’s Friday

sighs yum

I don’t really care anymore whether it’s Friday or Monday. But somehow eating at TGI Friday’s every Friday sounds like a very compelling idea. Hmm. But honestly, TGI Friday is nothing on Chili’s or even Italiannies.

I gave TGIF so many chances to redeem itself but like that other shop, what’s it called……. Tony Romas, just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. Maybe I shouldn’t have ordered that macaroni and cheese plus a whole chicken. That was a big mistake.

So let’s play this game. TGIF, Chili’s or Italiannies. Which one is your number one? I used to play this in the car with my friends. It drove them mad. Ice-cream, banana split or shake? McD or KFC? Swimming or boating?

Anywho. I wonder. Just for the sake of discussion. You know. Theoretically speaking. If you got married, would you mind having your wife earning more than you? In other words, she’s the BREADWINNER, the madam money of the house. Would that bother you guys? Girls do you mind being the breadwinner or should the husband be it. I wish I knew the rules to this kind of stuff.

The other day I was in the middle of some family forum about jobs and money. My dad was all “get a good job, stay on course and save the money!”

My eyes just about rolled into their sockets at the mention of that cliché. So I said, how bout making real money? Jumping into deals that sort of stuff. He replied, “Why? you can’t make more money than your husband. He’s going to be complacent and start golfing all day!”

I was all about to jump out of the seat in protest when my dad reminded me about the many real life examples of that happening. If my mom made millions, he wasn’t about to crack his head drilling oil holes at Kakemonoe in the middle of the Egyptian desert. Good point.

I feel a little bit off-balanced from this latest realization. Those people saying that it’s a bonus to look at things from two perspectives; they’re obviously wrong.

Healthy Skin

52maybellinemakeup

When I was 14, I wanted to be fairer so I bought the whole Neutrogena whitening line. Two weeks later, my skin broke out so bad that I stopped using the products all together. Of course it was too late and I didn’t have much sense about skin care back then. My favorite past time would have to be picking on acne nevermind how gross that sounds.

Fast forward nine years (How time flies. Sigh.), numerous dermatologist visits, some hundred pills, products, advices and heartbreaks later, my skin still isn’t something to be lauded for. For all it’s worth, I beat acne but the damage is done.

It’s true though. If only I could turn back time knowing the things that I know now. People write and say many things, but I believe the simpler, the better if we could just follow the advice religiously.

1. Drink plenty of water

let that sink in.

2. Avoid sun exposure

or wear sun block and avoid prancing under the sun at 12 in the afternoon.

3. Avoid chocolate, bananas, dry seeds

or anything that triggers your acne especially anything oily.

4. Avoid picking acne spots

or suffer the wrath of scars.

5. Avoid using greasy cream/oils/hair oil

which could block pores.

Of course, having a daily face regimen also helps. You know, those 1-2-3 cleanse-tone-moisturize thing. Choose suitable products for your face. How do you know? Try a product for two weeks, if it’s still killing your face by then, you can safely bet that it will continue doing that until you STOP.

OH. I also learned that if you plaster benzoyl peroxide aka OXY on favorite acne spots, they will disappear in days and won’t come out for a long time. I got this tip here. It worked for me so no harm in trying.

So you decided to try anything on here and it worked (or not) holla me. I’m out. Leaving you with my favorite song at the moment… if it’s not Taylor Swift. Pfft. Ok bye!
