Preggers & Fasting

photo

Hope everyone’s Ramadan is going well.

So I’ll get on straight with it. I must admit that while I was looking forward to Ramadan, I wasn’t as prepared as I thought I was. Mentally for myself, yes, but mentally with baby—not really. I thought it will be ‘easy peasy’ cycle of sahur, daytime fast, tilawah and nighttime tarawih.

It was a surprise when I found myself waking up with stomach pain at 2am!

I went to see the doctor and she told me that I had gastric. Wha? I never had them.. so I didn’t know if the pain was because of baby or me? Naturally I was worried.

Anyway she advised me to not fast. So mothers to be, if you feel unwell or even uncomfortable, don’t feel obliged to fast; because in Islam, pregnant and breastfeeding moms are exempted from fasting.

I know, it seems like a pity to not fast. After all what’s Ramadan without fasting? Also can you imagine making up 20 days of fasting at a later date?

Taking everything into consideration, Islam says it’s ok NOT to fast during pregnancy and breastfeeding FOR A REASON.

I’m just glad that I’m given a choice. I’ll fast again when I feel better. Or maybe I might not be able to for the rest of the month.

It’s okay though. Even though I can’t fast with other muslims, God gave me another responsibility; which is to take good care of my health, and ultimately the baby.

Ramadan mubarak everyone!

And here’s a photo that was taken a month ago at the Taiping botanical gardens!

Aww! Take care of your little bee :D Ramadan's not just about fasting though! Even the ordinary acts of worship are rewarded ten-fold.

Ramadan Kareem :)

aw you look so cute!

and glad you are looking after you and your baby, although not an easy decision to not fast, it's clearly the right one.

Ghadeer: You're right, thanks! Ramadan Kareem to you too :)

Katelin: Thanks! It just doesn't seem right, especially up to the point where I began having aches! But like you said not an easy decision.
